Black Friday marketing for COD stores: offers and timeline

Black Friday marketing for a cash on delivery store starts long before the day itself: Black Friday falls on Friday, November 27, 2026, Cyber Monday on November 30, and in many Arab markets the same period is called White Friday. With COD, a demand spike is an opportunity and a risk at the same time: more orders mean more confirmation calls, more parcels and, if the offer is poorly designed, more refusals at the door.

This guide gives you a five-week timeline, offers that suit COD (bundles rather than deep discounts), the rules for showing a strikethrough price, and how to prepare stock, confirmation and delivery for the peak.

Black Friday 2026 dates and what changes with COD

Late November 2026 sales peaks
Event2026 dateMain markets
Black FridayFriday, November 27Europe, Africa, English-speaking markets; often stretched over the whole week
White FridaySame period (dates vary by retailer)The Gulf and several Arab countries
Cyber MondayMonday, November 30Mostly English-speaking markets and Europe
Black Friday is the day after US Thanksgiving (the fourth Thursday of November). Many retailers open their deals several days earlier: watch what stores in your market do.

With card payments, a Black Friday order is paid immediately. With COD, it only earns money once it is confirmed, delivered and paid. That has three consequences: impulse orders are refused more often, delivery times stretch when every seller ships at once, and a discount that is too deep makes each refusal even more expensive.

A five-week Black Friday marketing timeline

Black Friday marketing timeline for a COD store, from offer to review, over five weeks
Five weeks, from choosing the offer to reviewing delivered orders.
  1. Week 1 (now): pick the product or products, work out the margin of each offer, check available stock and, if a restock comes from China, place the order right away (see our guide to shipping from China).
  2. Week 2: tell your ecommerce service center or carrier what volumes to expect, ask for their real lead times during the period, and organize confirmation (people, hours, script).
  3. Week 3: produce creatives (videos, images) and the offer’s product page; submit ads early so they clear review.
  4. Week 4: place a full test order, check the Pixel and Conversions API, and prepare messages for customers who agreed to be contacted again.
  5. Week 5 (Black Friday week): launch, track confirmations and stock every day, and cut what doesn’t work. Two to three weeks later, review the results in delivered orders.

Which Black Friday offers work with cash on delivery?

A deep discount isn’t the only option, and rarely the best one for COD: each refused parcel costs the outbound delivery (and often the return), whatever the discount. Offers that raise the order value protect margin better.

Comparing Black Friday offers for COD
OfferWhat it aims forWatch out for
2- or 3-item bundle with a discountHigher order value for a single delivery costMake sure stock covers the quantities
Free deliveryRemoves a common objection, simple final priceInclude delivery in your margin calculation
Discounted complementary productAdds value without cutting the main product’s priceMust be genuinely useful, or it gets refused
Straight discount on one itemSimple messageLower margin on every order, costlier refusals
Offer mechanics and order value are covered in our upcoming guides on upselling and cross-selling and average order value.

Worked example (assumptions, replace with your own figures): a product sold at €39 costs €9 landed at the center, and delivery costs €5 per parcel. A 30% discount on one item brings the price to €27.30, leaving 27.30 − 9 − 5 = €13.30 before ads and center fees. A bundle of 2 at €65 with free delivery leaves 65 − 18 − 5 = €42 for a single delivery. Run the same numbers in NGN, AED or MAD with the COD profit calculator, using your confirmation and delivery rates.

Strikethrough prices and discounts: the rules to check

Showing a fake reference price is prohibited in many markets. In the European Union, the amended Directive 98/6/EC requires any price reduction announcement to show the prior price, meaning the lowest price applied during at least the 30 days before the reduction. Raising a price just before Black Friday to display a bigger discount is therefore misleading.

In Saudi Arabia, the Ministry of Commerce runs an electronic discount licence service: the merchant attaches the list of products and their prices before and after the discount. Other countries have their own rules on sales and promotions. This is general information: check the rules of each country you sell to with the relevant authority or a local professional.

Stock, confirmation and delivery: handling the peak

  • Stock: set an alert threshold and decide in advance what happens when you run out (pause the ads rather than take orders you can’t ship).
  • Confirmation: more orders in a few days means more calls. Plan extra people or longer hours, and keep the same script (see our guide to COD order confirmation).
  • Delivery: ask the center or carrier for their real lead times during the period and give customers an honest estimate; an optimistic promise turns into refusals.
  • Tracking: check the confirmation rate every day and, later, the delivery rate per offer, so you can quickly stop an offer that brings unreliable orders.

Black Friday ads: get ready before costs rise

During Black Friday, many advertisers compete for the same audiences, which can push up the cost of results. A few simple rules: have creatives ready and approved before the week, reuse what already worked in a product test campaign, state the offer clearly in the first seconds of your video ad, and check that the Pixel and Conversions API report orders correctly.

After Black Friday: review in delivered orders

The real result of a COD Black Friday shows up two to three weeks later, once parcels are delivered or returned and the center has remitted the cash. Compare each offer on cost per delivered order and final margin (see our guide to COD profitability), and keep the lessons for the next peak, such as Ramadan offers.

Frequently asked questions

When is Black Friday 2026?

Black Friday 2026 is on Friday, November 27, the day after US Thanksgiving, and Cyber Monday is on Monday, November 30. Many retailers stretch their deals over the whole week or start earlier, so have your store and ads ready by mid-November.

What is the difference between Black Friday and White Friday?

They are the same late-November sales period. “White Friday” is the name many retailers use in the Gulf and in several Arab countries, and exact dates vary by store. For a COD seller, preparation is identical: offer, stock, confirmation and delivery.

Do I need a big discount for Black Friday with COD?

Not necessarily. With cash on delivery, every refused parcel costs the delivery whatever the discount. A two- or three-item bundle, free delivery or a complementary product often protects margin better than a deep discount on a single item.

How do I show a strikethrough price correctly?

The crossed-out price must be a price you actually charged before the promotion. In the European Union, it is the lowest price of the 30 days before the reduction. Other countries, such as Saudi Arabia, have a discount licence procedure: check the rule in each country you sell to.

When should I start preparing for Black Friday?

Ideally five weeks ahead, especially if a restock has to come from China. Choose the offer and check stock first, then brief your delivery partner, organize confirmation, produce creatives and place a full test order before launching.

You launch the store and the ads. The center does the rest.
